The goal of this project was to challenge myself by designing something outside my own areas of familiarity. A friend of mine practices yoga, so I imagined what it might look like if he were my client and I was creating an app to support his practice.
Since I don’t practice yoga myself, I had to approach this project from a beginner’s mindset. That actually turned out to be valuable—I relied on research, observation, and asking questions to understand what people might expect from a yoga app, instead of making assumptions. My main focus was to practice using Firebase Studio in a new context and see how far I could take an idea that was completely different from my previous projects.
While creating Yoga Path Pro, I wasn’t just thinking about yoga. I also had my daughter in mind—she’s learning martial arts and recently started a breakdancing class. That made me realize this kind of setup could be applied to all sorts of activities people enjoy.
The concept is simple but versatile: an app that helps you remember different moves, poses, or exercises, and practice them for a set amount of time. On top of that, it could serve as a progress tracker or journal, giving people a way to reflect on what they’ve learned and how far they’ve come.
I’d love for this project to evolve into something adaptable for many different practices, whether fitness, dance, or personal skill-building. Try it for yourself and let me know what you think—I’m curious how others would like to see it take shape for their own use.
I'm just starting small with this project for now and I am excited to see what you as my initial testers will say and make it the best I can for as many people as possible.
I’m not sure I even want to know how much people spend on classes, training, and scheduling—but I do know why they do it. People value structure. Structure provides order, focus, and a clear path toward achieving their goals.
That’s why even something as simple as a timer that resets itself and reminds you of the next step can add tremendous value to a yoga session—or to martial arts, dance practice, or countless other activities. Sometimes it’s the little tools that make the biggest difference, especially when everything you need is in one place.
