I'm just starting small with this project for now and I am excited to see what you as my initial testers will say and make it the best I can for as many people as possible.
I still believe this concept could be a nice accommodation for guests dining in, offering an alternative to a traditional paper menu if they prefer. When I tested it with my own family at the restaurant, it actually made our time there more enjoyable. Instead of just the small talk like usual or watching the TVs on the walls, we had fun using the app—my daughter and I played checkers, and later I enjoyed trivia with my stepfather while my daughter had a nice chat with her grandmother. It turned a regular dinner into something more memorable.
The limitation right now is that the app doesn’t handle orders or deliveries. I’m currently exploring options to bridge that gap—whether by connecting directly to the restaurant’s existing WhatsApp ordering system, or finding another way to integrate those functions. Since WhatsApp already works well for them, the real question is: will users feel inconvenienced starting with my app and then being redirected, or could this combination actually enhance their experience?
At the end of the day, my goal with this project wasn’t necessarily to reinvent anything, but to add a little more joy to the in-person dining experience. Whether this concept finds a home with this restaurant or with another, what matters most to me is if it makes people smile.
I would love to hear any suggestions for improving this app. I’m not giving up on this one—I see it as an opportunity to keep iterating and eventually get it into the hands of real people in the real world.
